Heads Up

What: BILLY ELLIOT

Where: Canon Theatre

When: March 1, 2011

Why: Based on the wonderful film of the same name. A boy from a mining
town discovers ballet and wants to take lessons. A Canadian contingent
amongst the boys alternating in the role of Billy. Also the wondrous
Kate Hennig (also a Canadian) plays the ballet teacher.

What: THE DISAPPEARING ACT

Where
: Pia Bouman Theatre, 6 Noble Street

When: March 2, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Why: Written and performed by Allan Royal, about the struggle for three people
to be heard.
Pam Brighton directs. Both Royal and Brighton are the draw.

What: ALICE IN WONDERLAND

Where:
The Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People

When: March 2, 2011, at both 10:30 am and 1:00 pm

Why: Produced by the provocative Théâtre Tout Á Trac putting a new spin
on the beloved Lewis Carroll’s classic.

What: MORE FINE GIRLS: POSTPONED

Where
: Tarragon Theatre

When: Was to open March 2, now opening March 11.

Why: The original creators of Three Fine Girls (Jennifer Brewin, Leah Cherniak, Ann- Marie MacDonald, Alisa Palmer and Martha Ross, have gotten together for
a sequel.
It stars Ann-Marie MacDonald, Martha Ross and Severn Thompson. Alisa Palmer directs.

What: LA VOIX HUMAINE

Where: Harbourfront, Enwave Theatre

When: March 1, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Why: A young woman is on the phone with her lover, who will leave her.
Stars Halina Reijn a leading actress in The Netherlands. Directed by
Ivo Van Hove, a fascinating director.

What: BROTHEL #9

Where: Factory Theatre Mainspace

When: March 3, 2011 at 8:00

Why: It’s about a young woman sold to a brothel. It’s written by the
always interesting Anusree Roy.

What: ARE YOU OKAY?

Where: Factory Theatre Studio

When: March 4, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Why: Created by modern dancer extraordinaire, Peggy Baker and quirky actor,
Michael Healey. Directed by Daniel Brooks.

WHAT: MAHMOUD

Where
: Tarragon Extraspace

When: March 4, 2011 at 8:00 pm

Why: Provocative story about a man, an engineer, who comes to Canada and drives
a cab for a living. It’s a one woman show.
