IF YOU’RE GOING TO NEW YORK…

by Lynn on April 26, 2011

in The Passionate Playgoer

What: WAR HORSE

Where: Lincoln Center Theater, the Vivian Beaumont Theater.

When: Now and open ended.

Why: Because this is the best show in New York. Because it is theatre at its magical best. Because the puppetry, artistry and imagination are what makes theatre indelible.

Tickets: www.lct.org

What: SLEEP NO MORE

Where: The McKittrick Hotel, on West 27th Street.

When: various times from 7:00 – 8:pm starting time to 10:00 pm during the week.

Why: Because it’s a Punchdrunk show and is so inventive and clever you might want to see it twice. Because they have taken a derelict warehouse and turned it into a 1930s swank hotel in which “The Scottish Play” is played out. You can explore the rooms; eat the candy; and follow the characters (yes it’s a bit like Tamara, but different). And it’s fun and spooky theatre.
