Factory Theatre is in crisis. Ken Gass, its founding artistic director, was fired June 20 by the Board, apparently without cause. A petition was created demanding that Gass be re-instated. Then a paid ad in NOW Magazine was published, signed by many of the leading artists in the country asking that Gass be re-instated and mediation talks between the Board and Gass take place to resolve the impass.

I interviewed Ken Gass on CIUT FRIDAY MORNING 89.5 FM August 3 on his side of the story, and Ron Struys, the Chairman of the Board of Factory Theatre August 10 on his side of the story. The next step was for both men to write a summary statement which I would read on the show August 17. On the afternoon of August 16 Ken Gass e-mailed me saying that both he and Ron Struys request that I hold off reading the statements for a week (until August 24) because Gass and the Board were now talking. One hopes this leads to a resolution of the issue.

I have agreed of course. To be continued.
