Who’s Afraid of Titus? Sky Gilbert’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus is billed as a workshop production and therefore I won’t review it—I don’t review workshops where exploration is on-going and not a finished production.
Sky Gilbert has positioned his one-hour adaptation as a “queer play about poeticized violence, and asks (but does not answer) the question: Does art harm us? Should it?”
It’s raw, violent with lots of sex, leather, robust activity, rape, mutilation, revenge and inventive culinary creations.
While the details are there, it might help to know the story to get a clear sense of what it’s about.
Plays until Sept. 3, 2022.
